In 2017 and 2018, SuoMu has been teaching design learning at Aalto University.
The course has immersed students in design thinking, design process and design methods as part of facilitating one’s own learning.
The course has been open for all Aalto students, enabling an interdisciplinary and multicultural learning environment for course participants.
Through learning by doing and groupwork, students have been able to learn more about their own ways of learning as well as reflect on skills relevant in the future. Creative problem-solving skills have been developed in the course through smaller exercises and a larger learning tool project.
The course is Aalto’s first course entity to focus on design learning being created based on SuoMu’s materials and activities. Mari Savio and Saga Santala from SuoMu have acted as teachers and planners of the course content together with Aalto University.
Feedback from the course has been inspiring:
“I found the course so inspiring and interesting, it really opened my eyes for what design is and what learning actually is! Loved it!”
“I would have liked a continuing course on this.”
“Lisää kursseja tästä aiheesta, ettei jää pintaraapaisuksi. Lisää tällaisia hands-on kursseja!”.
